Beers, burgers, and Barstool Sportsbook.
That is what’s on the menu at Hollywood Casino Perryville this week, as the casino opened a Barstool Sportsbook-branded restaurant next to its Maryland sports betting space. The casino held a VIP opening earlier this week that featured former Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap.
“Come grab something to eat. Have a drink. We will have entertainment on the weekends…bands and DJs on Friday nights. So, we’re much more than just gambling,” Hollywood Casino Perryville General Manager Amy Brennan said during an interview at the VIP opening.
The restaurant will hold a grand opening for the public from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday. Former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Duane Starks will attend.
Hollywood Casino Perryville restaurant offers food, sports
Perryville’s newest restaurant is separated from its actual sportsbook, which means it’s open to all ages.
It includes more than 50 TVs broadcasting various sporting events worldwide.
The restaurant’s menu is heavy on bar fare, including wings, burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. It also includes a few specialty plates like:
- 12-ounce New York strip steak with caramelized scotch onion
- Smoked macaroni and cheese with options to add shrimp, chicken, or brisket
- Pan-fried honey-garlic stung pork chops with baby arugula
The restaurant’s drink menu includes more than 20 different canned, bottled, draft, and craft beers, as well as ciders, hard seltzers. and Maryland-specific cocktails.
The renovated restaurant is a rebrand and new iteration of the space that used to be the Green Turtle Sports Bar & Grill.
Indiana Hollywood casino also features Barstool-branded restaurant
The restaurant concept isn’t new for Penn Entertainment, the parent company behind the Hollywood Casino chain.
Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg in Indiana has a similar concept adjacent to its sportsbook. However, the restaurant and sportsbook at that location are more integrated than in Maryland.
Opening highlights emergence of restaurant-sportsbooks in Maryland
Restaurant-sportsbook combinations have emerged as one of the more exciting developments in the Maryland sports betting industry.
On the casino side, Live! Casino & Hotel, MGM National Harbor, and Horseshoe Casino have all announced they have plans to open renovated restaurant areas that will complement their sportsbooks.
Long Shot’s off-track betting site and restaurant in Frederick County will open a temporary sportsbook, then transition to a permanent one. The permanent facility will be nearly 9,000 square feet and feature theater-style seating, a video wall, and a food and beverage menu.
So far, six facilities in the state have been approved for licenses and have opened.
